By the end of last week we shared information about the Xperia Play, Android 4.0 ICS and that they are never going to meet. Officially. Well, back then it was a rumor, right now it is an official confirmation. Sony Mobile has confirmed that the planned Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the PlayStation-certified smart-phone has been cancelled. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will remain on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, maybe, with a couple of minor updates ahead. The argument was pretty simple: ICS doesn’t work stable on the Play, especially when we talk about games compatibility. Frankly speaking, I am really surprised (in a bad way) cause I was more than sure that the Play will get its own ICS. Unfortunately, I was mistaken and as you can see yourself – things didn’t go the way they should have. But, no matter what, you can still visit XDA developers’ forum and after rooting install whatever you want.
