A new application has hit the Android Market called psx4droid that allows users to emulate any original PlayStation game. This adds the the large number of emulators for Android making its gaming capabilities pass the iPhone. The psx4droid application will run you $5.99 in the Market but is a great buy if you are a PS1 fanboy. It supports WiiMote, multiple save states, numerous file types, trackball as d-pad, virtual control overlays, scaling modes and programable keys.
The application is in the early stages and has had some reported troubles but overall is in good working condition. Some of the reported problems include getting stuck at the authorization screen and buggy sound. The developer is also likely to fix these bugs with soon to be released patches. The application is said to work for all Android versions but appears to work best on Android 2.x.
This new emulator further adds to the growing list of video game emulators for Android. Android now emulates: SNES, NES, GBA, GBC, PS1, CPS2, Genesis, GameGear, and a few others. I would personally say that Android takes the cake on gaming over the iPhone. Remember though it is illegal to download ROM images of games that you do not own! Happy Gaming!
