Overview
Pros: The Droid Eris by HTC features a great slim design, is has a ton of features, great performance, and even features pinch-to-zoom multitouch

Cons: The quality in multimedia can be mixed, the device is shipped only with Android 1.5, the phone lacks a file manager, and there is no flash for the camera.

The HTC Droid Eris is a popular and high-quality addition to the family of Android devices. With the Eris, you get a sleek and slim performance Android device without all of the extreme bells and whistles - the exact device that you anticipate on using, and a little more for your buck. It’s 528MHz Processor coupled with Android 1.5 upgradable to 2.1 makes the Droid Eris a device that stands out of the crowd.
 
Looks & Characteristics
Holding the HTC Droid Eris just feels nice. It is a great capacitive touchscreen device, it is slim, and lightweight. The design is a little reminiscent of the HTC touch - similar with it’s smooth round corners and soft touch finish. The feel of the construction of the device is certainly with a solidity that you would hope that have in any smartphone, yet it is slim enough to easily slide into any pants pocket and remain there comfortably. The 3.2-inch HVGA display is extremely sharp as well, and hard to ignore.
Using The Phone
Out of the box, the HTC Droid Eris comes equipped with Android 1.5, but is upgradable to 2.1, meaning that you’ll be using one of the best mobile Operating Systems that are available on the market today. The Android keyboard, depending on how you are holding the device, will change orientation - switching between landscape and portrait. The Capacitive touchscreen is always fairly responsive, although sometimes Android tends to be a bit laggy on this device, as it only features a 528 MHz Processor and 288 MB RAM. Other than that, the HTC Droid Eris is an excellent Android device on the Verizon Wireless network.

With an upgrade to Android 2.1, the HTC Droid Eris is still an amazingly impressive phone considering just how long it has been out on the market. It is a flashy device that, although not too similar to the more high-end devices featured on the market today, still stands out among the crowd. It’s 5-Megapixel camera may lack the fanciful features that other phones have included, but remains simple and easy to use, and HTC’s Sense UI overlays Android on the Eris to make using this phone a seamless experience. A great and simple Android device all in one sleek and slim body.
