It may not be a 100% complete version of 2.1 - but from what we’ve heard - it’s too close to call. There is a version of Android 2.1 floating around just ready to be ported to both the HTC Droid Eris, and the Motorola Droid. For those of you who stand brave enough to flash the leaked ROM on to your Droid or Eris, you will probably notice an increased degree of performance, but you will also be lacking Live Wallpapers and a 3d Launcher - both of which are included on the Google Nexus One. As many of you know, the 2.1 version was said to be coming out for the Motorola Droid quite some time ago - it went from coming “this week” to coming soon - and we still have yet to see an OTA update released. But since this nearly finished version has leaked it’s way out of the safe, we’re expecting that an OTA update will be released very close to the current date. We’ll keep you updated on an news developments as they are released, only at AndroidTrek.com. [DroidLife]
Note: We at AndroidTrek.com do not encourage anyone to install foreign software on any device, and doing so may risk the safety of your device. Flashing the Android 2.1 version on to your phone can result badly if not done correctly. If you doubt your skills - you’re better off just waiting for the OTA Update. Thankyou!
