This weekend, all lucky European Desire users will receive a over-the-air update to Android 2.2 Froyo. Only non-carrier specific phones will be receiving the update. Sorry to all those Desire users who are locked into a carrier. HTC states that they are testing carrier specific versions of Android 2.2 will be releasing in the coming weeks. If you are a lucky non-carrier specific user expect to see this update in the coming weekend/week. This update is highly anticipated and a exciting upgrade for any Android user. Along with this update users will be receiving a slew of new features. Some of these features include: 720p video mode, iTunes sync for updating your music, HTC’s new App Share first seen on the Wildfire, improved multi-language keyboard, and HTC enhanced caller ID.

Users of the HTC Desire will receive notification when they can download the update through over-the-air when their Desire automatically checks for software updates. Updating to the new Android 2.2 operating system will not delete user content. Due to the sheer size of the update it is advised that users use a Wi-Fi connection to download. Enjoy FroYo! Full press release after the break.

The Android 2.2 (FroYo) update for HTC Desire will start rolling out across Europe this weekend. As well as including the complete set of Android 2.2 features, the update will contain a few special additions of our own through the latest iteration of HTC Sense. The update will provide 720p video capture, HTC’s App Share widget, as well as our enhanced HTC Caller ID, and improved multi-language keyboard. Also, through the update, HTC Sync will allow HTC Desire users to sync their music with iTunes.
HTC Desire users will be notified that the over-the-air update is available to download when their phone automatically checks for software updates. The update won’t delete any of the phone’s content. However, due to the size of the update, we would advise using a WiFi connection to download it wherever possible to avoid additional data charges.
This update will initially roll out to unlocked HTC Desire handsets. Operator specific versions of the update are undergoing testing and we expect to make them available in several weeks’ time.

The Motorola Droid 2 is expected to release to release August 23rd. Droid 2 cases have recently been spotted on the Best Buy website. When first seen many people thought that it was a fake and that it really wasn’t true. Today, many images of the real Droid 2 case are being shown on the Best Buy website. The case is made by Rocketfish. Having the pictures of the new phone case must mean that the phone must be coming very soon. It might even come before the release date! Before the Droid X the same things were happening. The only difference was the Best Buy held a pre-sale for customers. It would be a great idea for Best Buy to hold another pre-sale because people have been anxious about this new phone. It’s only making it worse when your selling accesories for the phone and not the real device. Customers will have to about three more weeks until they can get their hands on this beautiful device. If Best Buy has a pre-sale im positive that their customers will be happy since they will be guaranteed a phone. After the phone comes out im pretty sure that the Droid 2 will be sold out in most stores!

If you haven’t see the Verizon commercial showing the Droid X mobile hotspots, then man you’re missing out. It’s really cool! The Droid X pretty much does everything a phone could do to keep it plain and simple. We all saw the ad with the Droid X making fun of the Apple iPhone bumpers. That was just epic. I think there isn’t any way the Droid X’s, or just the Droid’s in general, ads could get any better.

The commercial that has been seen by many people is where a girl turns the Droid X on and an orb appears on the display screen. The orb continues to expand which shows that she’s been connected to internet access. The best part of the commercial is when the phone starts pulsing  which send shock waves across the ground. Verizon really knows how to display their teaser ads in a way to get people to buy them. These phones have become so popular that most of the time they’ve been sold out! The Droid X has a 4.3-inch display screen which will give you much room to text with two fingers on the touchscreen. If Verizon continues to step its game up and come out with many more fantastic commercials for their phones that they’ll be doing a great job satisfying and pleasing their customers!

During quarter four, LG has some plans to release a new Android tablet! There also have been some talk of new phones coming out as well too? The latest gossip is of the wonder if this tablet will look and act like th iPad? If I knnow Android devices, then I’m sure LG will make this Android tablet unique and a better version of the iPad. LG has made many talented devices that have made people impressed, but they haven’t made a device yet that will bring all the attention to them! They haven’t sent out much information to the public which is making people go crazy. Some of the things they should have told us is how big they plan on making the screen? Is it going to have flash? I mean come on LG you can’t come out saying that your going to make this great device and give us no information for it, right? If LG continues to work hard they should come out with a new Android tablet to impress their customers. Overall, I believe this new tablet coming out in Q4 will either make or break LG because most likely this tablet will be compared to the iPad!

If you’re into new ways for social networking, then there is a new way to do it! It’s called face2face, it’s made by a comany called Proximate. This app is out for iPhone, Blackberry, and Android. It will allowed you to mix many different networks; MySpace, Twitter, Faceboo, & Linkdln, all in one single place. The whole point around this is just to talk to others and hopefully one name meet face to face; get it? (: haha.

But we all don’t want to meet all online buddies, because that would be a little weird right? Well face2face controls our privacy and has a lot of fexibility when to comes to making ourselves available to everyone or only that certain some someone.

They say face2face isn’t another social network, which is true, but it just seems like a place to connect all your social working. It sounds pretty awesome if you ask me. It’s really simple too! All you have to do is go download the face2face app to your device and just add in all your usernames and passwords and let them do the magic.

The Droid X has become a very popular phone and has been sold out in many stores you go to! Verizon has been taking the extra step of sending emails to your inbox explaining to you would be able to upgrade your phone even if you haven’t it for a year. As you’ve seen there have been many commercials about the Droid X on TV and many people think that’s where the ads should stay. People say it annoys them when they have tons of emails coming in from Verizon talking about the new Droid X. In August the Droid 2 might be released! The Droid 2 will be updated with Android 2.2 plus its going to be a smartphone. The Droid 2.2 has a QWERTY keyboard so if you like to text a lot I would most likely wait for this phone. Some information about the Droid X is that it has and 8 mega-pixel camera plus, 720p HD, HDMI Micro out and 24GB storage. One new thing that has been added to this phone is the three mics which cancel out the noise around to make sure the person talking to you can hear your voice and your voice only. The phone has built-in wireless and has 3G capability!

The new Android T1 phone has bet set to release on October 20! This is a slide phone with half the phone black and half the phone white. It has a very nice slim look to it and is not wide or thick at all. The T1 has a 3.2 capacitive TFT touchscreen and I’ve only heard one complaint. The complaint is that the numbers are put to close to each other so if your trying to text someone fast you’ll most like push the wrong button accidentally. The T1 has a small built in HDMI port with WiFi and bluetooth. Other specs the phone has is A-GPS plus an accelerometer. If you’d like to pre-order this phone you must do after September 20th. I believe this phone will be bought by many people and that there’s going to great reviews written about it. It is said to be a great phone to browse the web on. You could go on websites such as facebook, myspace, yahoo and much more. Re,ember, don’t forget to pre-order this phone starting on September 20th.

As we all know Apple has been expieriencing some Atenna problems which are making customers quite mad! Verizon and Apple have been competing against eachother for quite a long time now and with another rivalry just about to get stirred up again. In the NY Times paper there was an ad for the Droid X, saying that it didnt need no dang bumpers. After reading the article about the Droid X you can cleary tell that there going right for Apple.

At Motorola, we believe a customer shouldn’t have to dress up their phone for it to work properly. That’s why the DROID X comes with a dual antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like to make crystal clear calls without a bulky phone jacket. For us it’s just one of those things that comes as a given when you’ve been making mobile phones for over 30 years.

I think Motorola just made a statement their way above Apple right now and plan on keeping it that way! If Apple keeps on bugging them about things that aren’t even a big deal then i believe that Verizon has done the right thing by fighting back.
