Today in Android Cell Phone News, we are expecting the CLIQ XT to be on the T-Mobile Network any day now, and we’re bringing you the Photo’s to prove it – The first shots of the Motorola CLIQ XT bearing the T-Mobile Branding on it’s case. Thus far, it has been confirmed that it has WiFi and is running Android OS 1.6 with MotoBLUR on Launch. Here is a cool little feature that many overlooked when trying out the CLIQ XT – the sides of the phone pick up your touch as well as the screen – So you don’t have to use your thumb on the trackpad to select apps. It is said that this function ends about a third of the way up the phone – and we can likely presume that the Swype keyboard and doubleTwist apps are also on board – with the recent deals given with T-Mobile. Albeit new, the CLIQ XT is – what most would consider aesthetically… Ugly.

Today in Android Cell Phone News, we can always look to programmers and coders to dig deep into Android software and bring us the things that we’ve been yearning for. If you are an owner of the lovely Google Nexus One, and you’ve grown quite bored with your plain white trackball, or even worse, you’ve been wondering why your phone even has a trackball to begin with, then you’re in luck. Luckily, this upgrade has been added to the most recent Cyanogen Mod ROM for Nexus One, released today. We’ll bring you all the latest updates on this information, only at AndroidTrek.com. In Android Cell Phone news today – A recent OTA update for the Motorola CLIQ made some surprising changes – as in a ‘Bad’ surprise, not a good one. Over the weekend, T-Mobile sent out an OTA update to the Motorola CLIQ which backdated the phone to December 31st, 1969 – 7 PM. For those of you who are not UNIX savvy, this is what we nerds call ‘Zero’. Users who installed the update were unable to change the time nor date on their device, and this caused syncing issues. The ‘Update’ also caused significant lag throughout the SMS application, virtual keyboard issues, and problems logging into MotoBLUR accounts. The most of a ‘statement’ that we’ve gotten from T-Mobile came in the form of a post by a moderator of the T-Mobile forums stating:

“Hi Everybody!
Thanks everyone for informing us on what the latest Motorola Cliq OTA update has brought to light. We want to let everyone know that we have been reading your comments, and we hear you. We have forwarded your concerns to the appropriate people and are working hard on them.
As of now, we advise you not to Master Reset your phone if your OTA update did not download or if you are experiencing issues at this time.
Thank you for using the T-Mobile forums and we will keep you updated as we gather more information.”

I’m just glad that I didn’t wake up and see this update for my CLIQ… just goes to show you – be careful with those updates, they’re not all going to be perfect. So WHERE is the update for 2.1 …? [IntoMobile]

In Android Cell Phone News today, I believe the number one question on every Android Cell Phone User’s mind is, “When will my Android OS be updated to x.x?” Well Unfortunately I can’t give all of the answers to this question, but I can completely relate with the consistent wondering, and minimal upgrading that is happening with my Motorola Cliq. What we can tell you is that Taylor Wimberly of Android and Me is reporting that all of the US Android phones will receive the 2.1 update, some through PC, some OTA. Most of these updates are said to happen within the next four months, and also that the G1 and myTouch will be the initial first generation phones that will see the jump.
