So rumors have been flying around left and right – according to AndroidSPIN, an anonymous tipster has said the good word that the HTC G1 with T-Mobile – the first commercially available Android Phone on the market – will be receiving an Eclair Update. It’s definitely feasible – we’ve seen Android 2.0 already ported over to the G1, so an update of the official Android OS on the G1 to 2.0 could be an official announcement sometime soon… or it could just be another rumor along with the numerous others in the world that is Android. We’ll keep you posted as more news develops on this topic, only at AndroidTrek.com. [AndroidCentral]

Yet another app that we’ve all been waiting for – Photobucket is now available on the Android Market. Of course, it goes without saying, it is free. With it on your Android phone, you can search the Photobucket library, and get easy access to URL’s right from your phone, and you can upload multiple files in the background, all while doing whatever it is you do on your phone while you’re busy uploading your pictures to your photobucet account. Today in Android Cell Phone News, with all the anticipation building, what can we expect from Google’s new Android Phone to be released in 2010? There is talk of this phone possibly being the ultimate ‘iPhone Killer’. Well first we have to look at what we know about the iPhone and what could be the Nexus One.

Google’s Nexus one will be running the latest version of the Android Operating System. With Google releasing it’s own handset, this reflects at it’s effort to expand it’s business into new sectors, but the Cell Phone industry is turning more and more cutthroat everyday. Can a company like Google really compete with Apple?

Not to say that Google can’t come out with a great device, but sometimes good technology isn’t quite enough to make your product compete with Top-Notch companies such as Apple, BlackBerry, and other well known Cell Phone makers. But Google has teamed up with HTC to create the Nexus One, so all we really can do is sit back and wait to see what all comes of this new Android Phone made by Google and HTC. [NationalPost]

Google has addressed the recent news that Google has given all of their employees Google Phones. What they’ve stated is that this is all a large part of their product testing program, and it allows for Google employees to give feedback about the phone to better improve it. In the words of Google:

We recently came up with the concept of a mobile lab, which is a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities, and we shared this device with Google employees across the globe. This means they get to test out a new technology and help improve it.

Unfortunately, because dogfooding is a process exclusively for Google employees, we cannot share specific product details. We hope to share more after our dogfood diet.

Interpret that statement how you’de like, but all feedback is good feedback when it comes to live testing, so go google!

Google has now just announced that they have updated the Android SDK 2.0.1 and they will update all of the Android 2.0 devices (for now, just the DROID) to Android 2.0.1 by the end of 2009. It’s really just a minor update that has some bug fixes and other random upgrades, which really is always a good thing. From what word is saying, the OTA update that will hit the Droid will also be hitting DROID-specific issues with the phone such as improving auto-focus, and voice reception. We’ll bring you more on this topic as more news develops. [AndroidCentral]
